Greetings and welcome to the coming of winter. It's time to lavish in all that comes with this magic season, our longest nights, warm fires, pleasing teas and cozy blankets to protect from the cold night air.

The full moon of December is known as the Long-Night Moon. December Moon sits in view longer than any other full Moon of the year. Light from this moon will overpower the Geminid meteor shower. This lunar cycle is also known as Moon Before Yule or the Full Cold Moon.

This Long-Night Moon will reach peak fullness at 12:12 a.m. EST on the 12th day of the 12th month (Thursday, December 12). In all western time zones, the Moon will rise on Wednesday, December 11.

So, you can look for the celestial orb to appear most illuminated this Wednesday evening. Also, behold the full Moon to appear above the horizon just before sunset. But do note that what makes this full Moon special is its high orbit across the sky, causing the full Moon to sit above the horizon for a longer period of time.

There will be shooting stars … The Geminid Meteor Shower

The Geminids are the most active meteor shower of the year — good reason to look into the sky this month. They can be seen every night for a period of about two weeks in early to mid-December, but they typically appear their best on the night of December 13, when the shower is most prolific.

The full bright moon shines bright just one night prior to the Geminids’ peak this year, which will make it more difficult than usual to spot them. But imagine ….  about 9 p.m.. on Friday, December 13, to step out into the cold night air, look up, away from the Moon towards the darkest part of the night sky…. and see the shower of stars.

Make your wish dear one.

A little planetary activity to be aware of:

As Venus — planet of love — forms a conjunction with both karmic Saturn and controlling Pluto, your relationships could contend with some serious energy. Saturn puts up a wall, while Pluto encourages you to dig through it and get to the bottom of everything. If you can build upon Saturn's foundation and use Pluto's power of transformation, this full moon could truly strengthen and solidify your relationships.

This moon is in Gemini and it can make us prone to insomnia or manic behavior, scattered or distracted. Since the tendency is to be scattered energetically keep thoughts higher - on concepts rather than lower - on people and things in our sphere – like gossip for instance.

It’s important to use your voice in a positive way, to stay grounded and get good sleep. It is important to speak from the heart as that will foster assertion. This beckons to the goddess Artemis, the warrior, Amazon goddess and medicine woman. When she is wounded she feels she must armor up but when she is healed she is able to feel she can defend herself by speaking from her heart— assertion
