St. Patrick was a 15th century missionary and bishop in Ireland. He is considered Ireland's Patron Saint. He was not Irish, but rather kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a teenager and forced to work as a slave. He escaped for a time but then returned later to bring Christianity to Ireland.
